You can really make some nice coin playing in these freeroll tournaments with a little patience and some smarts.
First you need to play smart. There are many sites and books that can help you learn how to play the game. Checkout "poker strategy" under google to find some good online resources. But if you are looking for the basics go to my Texas Holdem for some to keep you on the straight and narrow when playing poker.
Now how to make the real coin is to get into the bigger tournaments. Like the Empire Poker $5000 upfront freeroll tournament or the Party Poker $5000 daily tournaments. The Empire tournament is free when you signup and make your first deposit. The Party Poker freeroll tournaments are predominantly based on points you earn while playing. But they are a huge reward if you can hit one of these big payouts.
Some of the small tournaments where there are no barriers to entry are often not worth it. They are tough to get in because the number of players is capped and the payouts are often not that large. But they are great experience when you are starting out so from that perspective they are worth a shot early on.
